Job summary

Forterra Building Products Ltd in the UK is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer (Electrical) to provide hands-on technical support and drive plant operational improvements within the Group Engineering function.

The role focuses on analysing, optimising and improving manufacturing processes to boost efficiency, reduce waste and deliver electrical system enhancements on the shop floor, working with central Projects teams and plant operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in Process Automation Controls systems, pref. Siemens TIA, SCADA, HMIs and associated networking technology.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Strong all-round background in software development with emphasis on industrial control systems and integrating specific factory systems.
• Be proactive and take accountability for projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drive plant improvements by root-causing repetitive issues and implementing lasting containment measures.
• Measure and analyse cycle times, downtime and design issues to improve availability.
• Modify and optimise electrical systems on the shopfloor with documentation and training.
• Interact with equipment through fault finding, thermographic surveys, vibration analysis, NDT where relevant.
• Design and execute small scale projects independently for electrical/control systems.
• Support and develop Forterra Engineering Standards and revamp as needed.
• Prepare URS for third-party integrators and review FDS with them.
• Lead cross-functional teams for large projects to own electrical aspects.
