OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrical Panel Builder & Wireman to join our client's busy team in the Corby area. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, wiring, and assembling electrical control panels to high-quality standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
QHSE
- To always adhere to the site QHSE requirements, company rules and regulations.
- To ensure that robust safety inspections are completed as required for the role.
- Maintain the housekeeping to a high standard.
- To ensure that waste is correctly organised, stored, controlled and disposed of in line with ISO 14001 standards.
- To ensure all quality standards and processes are always followed, drawing designs are worked to exactly and where issue occur follow escalation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, switchgear, and distribution boards from technical drawings and schematics.
- Interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schedules, and layout drawings accurately.
- Install components such as circuit breakers, relays, PLCs, terminal blocks, and enclosures.
- Carry out point‑to‑point wiring and cable routing neatly and efficiently.
- Conduct basic testing, fault finding, and quality checks to ensure panels meet specifications.
- Ensure work is carried out to relevant standards (e.g. BS EN and wiring regulations).
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health & safety requirements.
- Work to production deadlines while maintaining high workmanship standards.
- Assist with modifications, repairs, and upgrades of existing panels when required.
EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND
Requirements of Role:
- Proven experience in electrical panel building and/or wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of control panel components and electrical systems.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with electrical standards and safety procedures.
- Experience with crimping, stripping, and cable management techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering or similar).
- Experience with PLC wiring or automation systems.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Previous experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
