Job summary

A4 Plus Limited is seeking an experienced Control Panel Builder to join our workshop-based team. You will build and wire bespoke control panels for complex industrial machinery, from detailed electrical schematics and BOMs.

You will assemble enclosures and terminate components, working with LV and DC systems to ensure high-quality assemblies. The role requires a minimum of four years’ experience, strong interpretation of drawings, and a solid safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years' experience in electrical panel building.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination and cable routing.
  • Good understanding of both AC and DC control systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
  • Good practical workshop skills and experience using hand and power tools.
  • Strong understanding of safe electrical working practices.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire low-voltage control panels from detailed schematics and BOMs.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical layouts and BOMs.
  • Install and terminate components including circuit protection devices, relays, solenoid valves, contactors, inverter drives and soft starts.
  • Work with PLC and HMI systems (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Siemens).
  • Assemble enclosures (junction boxes, HMI enclosures, MCCs, cabinets).
  • Fabricate components using hand and power tools; measure and cut materials like stainless steel and GRP.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment and work with design/test engineers to deliver finished equipment.

Control Panel Builder

Are you an experienced Control Panel Builder looking for a hands-on role working on bespoke industrial equipment?

We are recruiting for an experienced Control Panel Builder to join a specialist electrical team, building and wiring high-quality, bespoke control panels for complex industrial machinery. This is a workshop-based position suited to someone who takes pride in producing accurate, reliable electrical assemblies.

The Role

You will be responsible for the electrical construction and wiring of a variety of bespoke control panels, working from detailed electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and bills of materials.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and wiring low-voltage control panels, working with V AC and 24V DC systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical layouts and BOMs
  • Installing and terminating components including circuit protection devices, relays, solenoid valves, contactors, inverter drives and soft starts
  • Working with PLC and HMI systems, including Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and Siemens
  • Building a variety of enclosures including junction boxes, HMI enclosures, MCCs and multi-door cabinets
  • Fabricating and assembling panel components using hand and power tools
  • Measuring, marking and working with materials including stainless steel, GRP, mild steel and galvanised steel
  • Carrying out continuity testing and basic functional checks
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
  • Working closely with design and test engineers to deliver high-quality finished equipment
About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 4 years' experience in electrical panel building
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination and cable routing
  • Good understanding of both AC and DC control systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
  • Good practical workshop skills and experience using hand and power tools
  • A strong understanding of safe electrical working practices

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

  • Formal electrical qualifications
  • Completed electrical apprenticeship
  • Experience using EPLAN
  • Experience working from detailed BOMs
  • Background in food machinery, industrial automation or similar manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and panel safety procedures
