If you're looking for a hands-on engineering role with genuine responsibility and the opportunity to make an immediate impact, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Our client is an established manufacturing business looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Engineer. The successful candidate will take a lead role within the maintenance function, ensuring production equipment, plant and site services remain safe, reliable and operational.

You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day maintenance activities, supporting a maintenance team and driving preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, while also getting involved with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system fault finding.

This is a varied role suited to a proactive engineer who enjoys being hands-on while also taking ownership of maintenance performance, compliance and continuous improvement.

The Role

  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate the maintenance team, allocating work effectively while supporting performance management, training, development and a proactive maintenance culture.
  • Fault Finding: Diagnose, fault-find and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system breakdowns across production machinery, tooling and site services.
  • Electrical & Automation: Maintain, modify and improve PLC-controlled systems and automated equipment, while supporting the installation, testing and commissioning of machinery and electrical plant.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure machinery, plant and electrical installations are maintained in a safe and compliant condition. Oversee relevant inspections, testing, calibration and statutory maintenance requirements.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement: Support engineering and capital projects while identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, safety and overall operational performance.
  • Contractor Management: Coordinate external contractors and specialist service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and in line with required standards and procedures.
  • Maintenance Management: Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset histories and compliance documentation while managing maintenance purchasing and monitoring expenditure against budget.
The Candidate

  • Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with mechanical, pneumatic and control systems.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled systems and automated machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of planned preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Confident supporting machinery installation, testing, commissioning and modification.
  • Good understanding of electrical, health & safety and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding would be advantageous.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, with occasional out-of-hours support potentially required.
