Job summary

Optimum TA Ltd is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in Northampton (NN4) with a City & Guilds electrical qualification. A hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment awaits, with a salary around £55,000 and weekly rotating shifts 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00.

You will carry out planned maintenance, diagnose faults, and support PLC fault-finding with no programming needed, while helping improve reliability and production output. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Electrical qualification, Level 3 or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or Maintenance, or equivalent.
• 18th Edition desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned electrical maintenance and routine inspections across site machinery.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing electrical faults and restoring equipment safely.
• Fault-find on electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, control panels, switches and isolations.
• Support PLC fault-finding and I/O checks, with no programming required.
• Work with inverters, relays, contactors and industrial electrical systems.
• Complete maintenance records accurately.
• Contribute to site safety and compliance standards.
