Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting an Electrical Engineer for HMP Northumberland in Northumberland. The role focuses on maintaining the prison's essential electrical infrastructure, ensuring safety, security, and operational efficiency.

You will diagnose faults, interpret schematics, and keep accurate records in a highly regulated environment. The position requires a recognised electrical apprenticeship, City & Guilds/ONC-HNC or equivalent, and a Full UK driving licence, with a 37.5-hour workweek and on-call

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship and valid UK driving licence.
• Qualified electrician with City & Guilds and/or ONC/HNC or equivalent.
• Knowledge of IET/IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding within a secure environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect, test, fault-find, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Complete work to trade standards and regulations.
• Maintain maintenance records and reports; report defects.
• Support other FM trades and escort contractors when needed.
• Participate in on-call rota and respond to emergencies.
• Comply with health, safety, security, and company procedures.
