Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking an Electrician to install, test, examine and maintain electrical systems within the prison environment at HMP Altcourse. You will support the Maintenance Team Leader and collaborate with allied trades to ensure safety and efficiency.

Key duties include repairs, preventative maintenance, detailed record-keeping to 18th Edition standards, on-call work, and ensuring compliant installations. Strong fault-finding and PAT testing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fault finding, installation, and repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial electrical repairs, including HVAC, AHU, controls, and BMS systems is an advantage.
• Experience in testing, inspection, and PAT testing.
• Strong understanding and commitment to Health and Safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Qualified to 18th Edition (BS 7671).

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on electrical systems within the establishment.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, ensuring compliance with relevant trade standards (18th Edition).
• Perform scheduled maintenance services on electrical systems and fixtures.
• Conduct out-of-hours call-outs on an "On Call" rota system and respond appropriately.
• Escort specialist contractors and support their work as required.
• Ensure that all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities meet the necessary codes of practice.
