Job summary

Sodexo Group is recruiting a Plumber/Fitter for our Facilities Management team at HMP Northumberland. This hands-on role covers installation, inspection, maintenance and repair across the prison’s plumbing and mechanical systems, ensuring a safe, secure and fit-for-purpose environment.

You will work both independently and with a wider team, taking part in on-call duties and contributing to site improvements while adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• A recognised apprenticeship and relevant trade qualification.
• Practical experience in plumbing and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team.
• Proactive and systematic approach to completing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to plumbing, heating, ventilation and hot and cold water systems.
• Inspect, test and examine onsite systems and equipment.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot using testing equipment.
• Carry out plumbing repairs and replace building services equipment and fixtures.
• Undertake general maintenance and minor mechanical works, including basic electrical tasks where appropriate.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain records of maintenance, inspections, testing and repair work.
• Identify and report defective or substandard equipment.
