Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer at HMP Northumberland to maintain essential electrical systems within a secure environment. You will diagnose faults, read technical drawings, and ensure all work complies with regulations and safety standards.

The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, keeping detailed records, and contributing to a safety-focused, team-oriented prison operation. On-call duties are required as part of the rota.

Qualifications

• Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or recognised equivalent.
• Electrical qualification (City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent).
• IET/IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect, test, fault-find, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Complete all work to relevant trade standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Identify and report defective or unsafe equipment.
• Support other FM trades and escort specialist contractors when required.
• Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency call-outs.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, security, and company procedures.
