Salary: Up to £48,000
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

The Role – Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving a wide range of production and process machinery across a busy manufacturing environment.

This role is ideally suited to an electrically biased engineer with strong mechanical understanding and a practical approach to fault finding. Much of the equipment is bespoke and has evolved over many years, so success in the role will come from strong engineering principles, logical problem solving, and the ability to diagnose issues where documentation may be limited.

Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement activities to maximise reliability, efficiency and uptime.

Key Responsibilities – Electrical Maintenance Engineer
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across manufacturing and processing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery and plant equipment.
  • Provide mechanical fault-finding support and carry out basic mechanical repairs where required.
  • Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise production downtime.
  • Investigate recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
Requirements – Electrical Maintenance Engineer
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, HND or equivalent.
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing, production, process, FMCG or industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good mechanical understanding with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Ability to work methodically and apply fundamental engineering principles to complex problems.
  • Experience troubleshooting ageing, bespoke or legacy manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, PLC-controlled machinery and industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
