Job summary

EQUANS is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Apprentice based at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for a four-year apprenticeship. This full-time role involves supporting 24-hour maintenance, learning to service high and low voltage electrical systems, and gaining hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

You will attend college one day per week and on-site for four days, developing practical skills under supervision while completing the required training and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above including Maths, English, and Science.
• Great communicator and enjoy working with others.
• Flexible, proactive, and eager to learn new skills.
• Take pride in your work and can work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Estates Management in the provision of a 24 hour maintenance service within the hospital.
• Assist in completion of PPMs and remedials on electrical and mechanical hospital equipment such as RCDs, RCBOs, transformers, Emergency Lighting, and Motors.
• Learn to maintain and repair electrical systems that keep the hospital running safely — from emergency lighting to motors and transformers.
• Work alongside experienced professionals, helping with planned maintenance and fixing equipment.
