Job description

Job Description

Electrical Lecturer - Bracknell

Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. Established over 40 years ago, we now employ more than 850 staff across the UK and collaborate with the country’s major house builders. Training apprentices is a core part of our ethos.

Through our award-winning in-house training, we’re proud to continually develop newcomers to the electrical industry.

The Role

If you’re a qualified electrician with a knack for sharing your knowledge with apprentices, apply now to join our training team and begin a rewarding new chapter in your career. At our purpose-built centres, we train all of our own apprentices. With their numbers on the rise, we’re looking to expand our team by recruiting someone who’d like to put their years of electrical experience to use in a new field.

We will provide comprehensive on-the-job training, fully fund your teaching qualifications, and offer mentorship from experienced team members—many of whom transitioned from hands-on roles into teaching.

This role is based at our Bracknell teaching centre, with occasional travel to Gloucester required, typically for one day per week. Overnight accommodation will be arranged as needed.

Our training team is predominantly based in Gloucester, but we also deliver apprentice training in other locations. While this role specifically focuses on Bracknell and Gloucester, flexibility for occasional travel between these two centres is essential.

Salary for electricians new to teaching starts at £38,000, increasing over time as teaching qualifications and experience are gained. Flexible working hours are available, with both full and part-time candidates considered.

The safeguarding of our apprentices is of paramount importance, and all candidates must provide 2 references. Successful applicants will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before starting the position.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and delivering a combination of theory and practical training to apprentices, starting with topics like health & safety and installation, progressing to testing and electrical principles, with appropriate mentoring support.
  • Conducting and marking practical assessments.
  • Updating learner records to ensure accurate progress and attendance records.
  • Carrying out learner progress reviews.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified electricians (JIB Gold Card equivalent) with at least five years’ electrical experience.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • A ‘people person’ who communicates well and naturally fits in a people-focused role.
  • Upbeat personality and positive outlook that encourages enthusiasm in others.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when plans change at short notice.
  • Approachability combined with professionalism and credibility as a teacher.
  • Understanding of the bigger picture, including the need to operate productively, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of teaching.
Benefits
  • 24 days’ holiday increasing with service + bank holidays.
  • Option to buy up to 5 additional days’ holiday.
  • Mobile phone.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Life assurance.
  • Discounted gym membership.
  • 24/7 free & confidential support helpline.
  • In-house wellbeing team.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Refreshments and fresh fruit provided.
  • Early finish Fridays.
  • Summer & Christmas social events.
