Job summary

North Hertfordshire College's Construction Campus in Stevenage seeks an outstanding lecturer to develop and deliver electrical installation theory and practical sessions within the electrical team. You will plan lessons for learners of varying abilities, using diverse teaching strategies to bring electrical installation to life and inspire high achievement.

• Promote the promotion of courses and the recruitment and enrolment of students.
• Ensure effective assessment of students to help learning meet individual needs.
• Maintain a safe learning environment by supporting students in staying safe and reporting risks.
• Promote the fundamental British values of democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect of those with different faiths and beliefs.
• Utilise a wide range of teaching and learning tools to create and plan engaging learning opportunities.
• Deliver outstanding learning, using creative strategies to inspire students to reach their full potential.
• Provide students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
• Mark and assess students' work, providing feedback that supports improvement.
• Take responsibility for the progress and achievement of all students on your course.
• Champion Maths and English strategy and embed development in teaching.
• Lead a programme or course, maintaining high standards of behaviour and performance.
• Liaise with student support functions, external agencies and parents to ensure good progression.
• Use programme data to support effective course management.
• Deliver IAG to support students' decision making and progression.

Job description

The NHC Construction Campus is located in the heart of the SG1 regeneration programme, the site offers a wide range of full time and part time construction courses that meet industry need. As an approved CITB CSCS Test Centre we work with major contractors and a range of other stakeholders to deliver training solutions that meet local need and employer workforce planning demands. Our Construction Hub will help transform the region's economy by providing the construction industry with the skills they need now and in the future.

As part of the established electrical team, you will develop and deliver dynamic learning programmes that respond to up-to-date industry practice and meet the needs of learners using a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies. You will plan and deliver electrical installation theory and practical sessions in a group setting to learners of varying abilities.

About the Organisation:

The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally.
