Job summary

Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Engineering department. You will deliver high quality teaching across Level 1, 2 and 3 Electrical Installation programmes, combining practical workshops with classroom learning.

You will contribute to curriculum development, learner support and progression activities, inspiring students to achieve their goals in the electrical industry.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in Electrical Installation at Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards (PGCE/QTS).
  • Experience in delivering practical and theory-based electrical courses.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality teaching across Level 1–Level 3 Electrical Installation.
  • Run practical workshop sessions and classroom-based learning.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and learner support.
  • Support student recruitment and progression outcomes.

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and industry-experienced Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of electricians by delivering high quality teaching and learning across Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation programmes. Working closely with the Course Leader and wider curriculum team, you will deliver both practical workshop sessions and classroom-based learning, ensuring students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required for success in the electrical industry. You will contribute to curriculum development, student recruitment activities and learner support, helping students achieve their full potential and positive progression outcomes. You will be passionate about developing the next generation of skilled electrical professionals and committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience. Whether you are an experienced lecturer or currently working within the electrical installation industry and looking to move into education, you will bring strong technical knowledge, enthusiasm and a learner-focused approach. You will have relevant industry experience in Electrical Installation and a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent. A teaching qualification is desirable, although support will be provided to achieve a teaching qualification where required. You will also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate, challenge and support learners from a range of backgrounds to achieve their goals. Working collaboratively with colleagues, employers and students, you will be committed to maintaining high standards of teaching, assessment and learner support. An understanding of current electrical principles, industry practices and legislation will enable you to deliver engaging theory and practical sessions that prepare learners for successful careers in the electrical industry. Above all, you will share our commitment to transforming lives through education, supporting learners to realise their potential and progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study. Below is a list of some of the key skills, qualifications and experience we are seeking for this exciting opportunity. Required

  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards a PGCE if not already qualified at Level 6
  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards
  • Relevant industry experience within Electrical Installation, Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to demonstrate this at the point of appointment. Please note that we are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this position. We offer substantial annual leave entitlement (Up to 55 days per year including bank and public holidays)
