Science and Technology Facilities Council seeks an Electrical Infrastructure Engineer (Authorised Person) to support the estates electrical network across RAL, Chilbolton, and The Cosener’s House. You will ensure safe operation, manage assets, and implement safe work practices across HV/LV systems.

The role reports to the Estates Building Services and requires relevant City and Guilds qualifications, plus experience in large-site electrical infrastructure and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds qualifications are essential for electrical building services roles.
• Experience with electrical distribution systems on large campuses or similar sites is required.
• Solid knowledge of safety legislation and UK codes of practice is expected.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite is desirable.
• Ability to work on-call and manage high-pressure situations with minimal supervision.

Responsabilités

• Implement safe systems of work for electrical networks and maintain compliance.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of site electrical distribution networks (HV/LV).
• Manage power infrastructure assets and delineate responsibilities between Estates and departments.
• Complete safety and technical legislation adherence, including permits and risk assessments.
• Assist in training pathways and audits of safe systems of work.
• Support high-voltage maintenance, upgrades, and planned outages with stakeholder communication.
• Keep schematics, labeling and safety information up to date.

Formation

City and Guilds 2330 levels 2 and 3 (or equivalent)

City and Guilds 2391/94/95 inspection and testing

City and Guilds 2382 18th IET Wiring Regulations

Experience with electrical distribution on large campuses/facilities

Knowledge of safety legislation

Microsoft Office

On-call availability
