Job Description

Join our multidisciplinary Transmission & Distribution team as an Electrical HVAC/HVDC Cable Engineer, working on innovative energy infrastructure projects in Birmingham. You will contribute to design, development, and implementation of offshore and onshore cable systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

1. Perform specific tasks within broader projects, focusing on software modeling for cable design.
2. Gather and analyze engineering data, adhering to standards like IEC, CIGRE, and guidelines from National Grid, SSE.
3. Develop detailed design assignments, including calculations, routing, installation, and commissioning.
4. Propose solutions for new problems, using modifications of standard procedures.
5. Identify discrepancies in design calculations and ratings.
6. Mentor and guide junior engineers and graduates.
7. Complete tasks within budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
8. Handle primary design elements independently.

Qualifications

1. Degree in electrical/electronic/power engineering or similar (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng).
2. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
3. Experience with software tools like Cymcap, Cableizer, COMSOL.
4. Understanding of HVAC and HVDC principles and power system characteristics.
