Job summary

Magnet in Darlington is seeking an experienced Electrical Facilities Engineer to lead electrical systems, act asElectrical Duty Holder, and drive safety and reliability across the site.

You will own electrical infrastructure, manage CAPEX projects, coordinate inspections, and work with contractors to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship or City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Act as the site's Electrical Duty Holder, ensuring electrical safety compliance and best practice standards.
  • Take ownership of the site's electrical distribution systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage Fixed Wiring Inspections (EICR) and ensure remedial works are completed safely and on time.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Electrical Safe System of Work.
  • Coordinate PAT testing programmes and statutory electrical compliance activities.
  • Manage fire alarm, intruder alarm and life safety systems compliance.
  • Lead electrical fault finding, maintenance and installation activities across the site.
  • Manage contractors, ensuring compliance with Permit to Work procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Deliver electrical CAPEX projects from specification through to implementation.
  • Support automation, control system and electrical reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate electrical records, technical documentation and compliance documentation.

Reports to: Head of Engineering

Location: Darlington

Hours: 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £48,162.29

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Facilities Engineer to join our Darlington manufacturing site. In this critical role, you'll provide technical leadership across all electrical systems, acting as the site's Electrical Duty Holder and ensuring compliance with all relevant electrical legislation, standards and safety requirements. You'll take ownership of electrical infrastructure, statutory inspections, contractor management and electrical CAPEX projects, while driving reliability and continuous improvement across the site.

What You’ll Be Doing

Who We’re Looking For

  • Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship or City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Duty Holder or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and electrical compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing Fixed Wiring Inspection programmes and remedial works.
  • Experience managing fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of LV distribution, motor control and industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience delivering electrical CAPEX projects and managing contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management qualification and IPAF/MEWP certification would be advantageous.
