Job summary

Magnet is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team in Darlington, working 3 days per week in the office. You will support day-to-day operations of our network and help develop skills in enterprise networking technologies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the organisation's core network infrastructure.
• Assist with network maintenance, upgrades, and projects.
• Support the corporate network, including firewalls, switches, and wireless technologies.
• Investigate and resolve network tickets escalated from the Desktop Support team.
• Monitor network performance and alerting systems, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Assist with firmware updates, hardware upgrades, and hardware replacements.
• Support disaster recovery testing and maintain network documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the network team.
• Develop technical knowledge and skills with senior engineers.

Role: Junior Network Engineer

Reports to: Hosting & Network Infrastructure Manager

Location: Darlington, based in the office 3 days a week

Hours: 39 hours per week

Salary: £26,538.49 - £30,000, depending on experience

We're looking for a Junior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for networking and IT infrastructure who is looking to build their technical skills in a hands‑on environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll support the day‑to‑day operation of our network, helping to maintain critical business services while developing your knowledge of enterprise networking technologies.

What you’ll be doing:
