Job summary

Imperial Recruitment Group, working with Middlesbrough College, seeks an experienced Electrical Engineering Assessor in Middlesbrough. The role involves managing a caseload, designing and delivering learning and assessment activities to help learners achieve apprenticeship standards.

You will work with employers to recruit learners, provide guidance, assess knowledge and support progression while promoting high standards and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Level 3+ in Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above are essential.
  • TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards.
  • Teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Award in Internal Verification or V1 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and maintain relationships with external partners and employers to recruit learners.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers for timely achievement of learning aims.
  • Assess knowledge, skills and behaviours of a caseload of apprentices.
  • Support assessment of NVQ qualifications where required.
  • Develop business with existing employers and identify new opportunities.
  • Plan and deliver a structured scheme of work and lesson plans meeting learner needs.
  • Monitor progress and participate in best practice groups and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual standards and recruitment targets.
  • Create a safe, confident learning environment and meet organisational targets.
  • Conduct health and safety risk assessments prior to contracts.
  • Monitor learner progress in the workplace to ensure qualification achievement.
  • Contribute to programme performance and KPIs and participate in continuous improvement.

Summary

The assessor manages a caseload of learners engaged in training programmes. They play an active role in the design and delivery of learning and assessment activities, supporting learners to successfully achieve their qualifications, including full Apprenticeship standards. Assessors work closely with employers and are instrumental in developing learners, helping them achieve their goals and motivating them to overcome any barriers to progress.

Role Responsibilities
  • To develop, manage and maintain good relationships with external partners, local employers and appropriate agencies to recruit learners.
  • To provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers to promote learning and timely achievement of the agreed learning aims and SMART objectives.
  • Assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours of a set apprenticeship caseload.
  • Where required support the assessment of commercial NVQ qualifications.
  • Develop business with existing employers and identifying new opportunities.
  • To work in a team to plan and deliver a structured scheme of work and develop lesson plans that meet the learning needs of learners and the delivery and assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours.
  • Support the continued evaluation of learning needs and objectives, through regular review and attendance as required at best practice groups.
  • To comply with the contractual standards with emphasis on recruiting participants, managing retention and achievements.
  • To establish a purposeful learning environment, where learners feel safe, secure, confident and valued.
  • To meet targets and support the organisation in the delivery of its' corporate strategy.
  • To conduct health and safety risk assessments of employers / potential employers ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, prior to finalising a contract work-based training.
  • In consultation with the employer, monitor and review learners' progress in the workplace to ensure the achievement of qualification standards.
  • To contribute to the performance management of the programme, monitoring key performance indicators, such as learner numbers, attendance, timeliness of achievement.
  • To participate in the continuous improvement cycle through programme and self‑assessment reviews, attendance at staff meetings, working groups, development projects and activities related to the Education Inspection Framework.
Key Requirements
  • Level 3 or above in Electrical Engineering - Essential
  • English and Maths GCSE grade C or above- or equivalent - Essential
  • TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willing to work towards- Essential
  • Teaching qualification – Desirable.
  • Award in Internal Verification or V1- Desirable.

Experience
  • Practical occupational experience as an Electrical Engineer.

  • Knowledge of monitoring subcontracted provision - desirable.
Other
  • Must have use of a car and hold a current driving licence
  • Be able to work flexible hours and locations as required
