Job summary

National Grid plc is seeking candidates for a training-to-SAP Senior Authorised Person role. The position starts with a focused training period on-site and classroom learning, moving toward leading HV substation projects with safety-first leadership.

Initial 24 months build core skills, then a SAP role with a £5,000 SAP allowance and standby duties. Requires HV experience, NVQ/ONC, and willingness to train across sites in the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Experience with high voltage equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and produce risk assessments.
• Ability to use test equipment and interpret maintenance results.
• Willing to attend training at our Eakring site in Nottinghamshire and other sites with short stays away from home.
• Live within 45 mins of Kearsley, M26 1EL.
• Full UK driving licence.
• NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams on high voltage substation projects.
• Provide risk assessments and method statements.
• Coordinate safety-critical works and toolbox talks.
• Delivery of projects and temporary works coordination.
• Standby rota for emergency callouts.
