Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Senior Engineer to deliver high‑quality, sustainable electrical engineering solutions across multiple built environment projects in the Southwest and beyond. Based in Plymouth or Exeter, you will join a collaborative Electrical team with strong regional reputation and global expertise.

You will own defined elements or lead larger schemes, coordinating with multidisciplinary colleagues, clients and contractors, and supporting junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Building Services Engineering; industry membership preferred.
• Working towards or holding IEng/CEng.
• Strong technical competence in LV distribution, lighting and earthing/protection; able to produce calculations and drawings.
• Proficient with industry software (Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, OM Electrical) and MS Office.
• Able to work independently and lead discipline/small projects or larger schemes as required.
• Effective communicator with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and liaising with clients/contractors.
• Experience of site checking, witnessing testing/commissioning and reviewing contractor submissions.
• Committed to meeting programmes and quality standards; commercially aware.

Responsibilities

• Take briefs and deliver electrical design work from inception through to completion.
• Produce electrical calculations, drawings and technical documentation that comply with regulations and client standards.
• Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines and third‑party consultants.
• Review contractor submissions and check site installations against design intent.
• Attend design, client and project meetings; report progress to line manager.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities and support handover documentation.
• Manage workload to meet programme deliverables; develop junior staff.
• Contribute to professional development of junior colleagues.
