Job summary

Expleo Belfast is seeking an experienced Interconnect and Cable Architect to lead the design of interconnect and cabling solutions for cutting‑edge defence products. You will mentor colleagues and guide the team through the full product lifecycle, from requirements capture to verification.

The role requires strong trade studies, modelling and simulation to optimise architectures, with a preference for aerospace or military experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Post-graduate experience in cable/interconnect design is desirable.
• Experience mentoring and coaching others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of interconnect and cabling architectures.
• Design cable assemblies meeting electrical constraints (current, screening, signals, volt drop, EMC, environment).
• Lead connector selection and evaluation activities.
• Create cable schematics and drawings.
• Support integration and testing of cable assemblies.
• Develop cable specifications, verification and development plans.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Contribute to bid and estimating activities.

Overview

Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an experienced Interconnect and Cable Architect to work with our client, at Belfast. In this role the successful candidate will be expected to mentor and guide others in the design of interconnect and cabling solutions that deliver world-class performance. You will work alongside a team of multidisciplined Engineer working on cutting edge defence products. Your role will span the entire product lifecycle from design requirements capture and analysis through to defining the interconnect architecture and verifying that the solution meets the customer’s requirements. The Interconnect and Cable Architect role requires working within the Electronics team to optimise the design through trade-studies, analyses, modelling and simulation to produce best-in-class competitive products.

We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with aerospace or military experience.

Responsibilities

The Interconnect and Cable Architect will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of cutting-edge defence products:

• Lead the development of interconnect and cabling architectures
• Design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC, and environmental requirements
• Lead connector selection and manage evaluation activities
• Lead the creation of cable schematics and drawings
• Support integration and testing of cable assemblies
• Creation of cable specifications, development and verification plans
• Responsible for compliance to regulatory standards
• Contribute to bid and estimating activities

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
