Job summary

Arup in the United Kingdom is seeking an Energy Consultant (Electrical) to join the Energy team in Manchester or Sheffield. You will develop electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions focusing on HV grid connections, network integration, and electrification of energy systems.

You will work in a multidisciplinary group delivering low-carbon projects across solar PV, storage, heat networks, hydrogen, and data centres, with mentoring from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• MEng in Electrical Engineering (power systems focus) and working towards Chartership.
• Strong grounding in electrical engineering principles: power systems, distribution networks.
• Understanding HV grid connections, including connection processes with DNOs/TSOs.
• Interest in energy systems and decarbonisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies and integrated schemes for public and private sector clients.
• Perform technical analysis and modelling of electrical systems.
• Prepare outputs: reports, calculations, schematics.
• Assist decarbonisation studies at estate, city, and regional scales.
