Job summary
Babcock is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for its Walsall site to design and develop electrical and electronic systems for specialist emergency service and defence vehicles. You will manage concepts through production, testing, and deployment, delivering tangible improvements and ensuring reliability.
The role involves onsite work with 39 hours weekly, Monday-Thursday 8:00-17:00 and Friday 8:00-13:00, with flexibility to meet business needs.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable understanding of vehicle electrical systems and components.
- Experience in automotive electrical design or systems integration.
- Practical hands-on experience with vehicle electrical installations.
- Level 3 qualification in Auto Electrical or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems and wiring layouts for specialist vehicle programmes.
- Produce electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Select and integrate components including lighting, communications, CCTV, and power systems.
- Support vehicle build, testing, validation, and fault-finding activities.
