Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Gateshead to deliver high-quality electrical designs for power distribution and control systems across industrial applications. Permanent, full-time role with a salary of £40,000 - £55,000 plus private healthcare, health cash plan and generous benefits; excellent career prospects within a growing engineering business.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical design within power distribution, electrical manufacturing, control systems, automation, or related engineering environment.
• Ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical engineering standards and best practice.

The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs for power distribution and control systems used across a variety of industrial and infrastructure applications.

Working closely with project, production, and commissioning teams, you'll develop practical engineering solutions that meet customer requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

This is a varied position that offers genuine involvement from initial design through to installation and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings for power distribution and control systems
• Develop bespoke engineering solutions to meet project and customer requirements
• Create and maintain accurate design documentation using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar software
• Support the development of innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions

Project Delivery

• Collaborate with project engineers and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
• Provide technical support throughout manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities
• Assist with resolving technical challenges during project delivery

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and client specifications
• Maintain high levels of accuracy and quality across all engineering documentation
• Support adherence to company quality and health & safety procedures

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to design reviews and technical discussions
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectivenessSupport upgrade and retrofit projects where required

What We're Looking For

• HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in electrical design within power distribution, electrical manufacturing, control systems, automation, or a related engineering environment
• Ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Experience using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software
• Knowledge of relevant electrical engineering standards and best practice
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• A proactive and detail-focused approach to engineering

Desirable Experience

• Power distribution or electrical infrastructure projects
• Control systems or automation environments
