Job summary

Technical Network Recruitment seeks an Electrical Design Engineer for a global manufacturer near the Birmingham area. You will design and support industrial control panels, produce BOMs, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role involves design documentation, supplier collaboration, and hands-on testing across project lifecycles. Qualified candidates will have AutoCAD Electrical/EPLAN experience, strong MS Office skills, and a degree or HND in a related field.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical and EPLAN.
• Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panel design.
• HND or Degree in a relevant field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and configure electrical wiring drawings and BOMs.
• Ensure all designs comply with regulatory and testing requirements.
• Produce drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure performance standards.
• Provide technical guidance and promote best practices in panel design.
• Maintain compliance with design and testing standards throughout projects.
• Develop and support test rigs, simulations and prototype control systems.
• Generate safety approval and sign-off documentation.
• Perform calculations per BS EN 13849 and IEC 60204 standards.

Role: Electrical Design Engineer

Office Location: Birmingham area

Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE

The key responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer role will be:

• Prepare and configure both standard and custom electrical wiring drawings, along with complete Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulatory, design, and testing requirements.
• Produce design documentation including drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivered solutions meet required performance standards.
• Provide technical guidance and promote best practices in industrial control panel design.
• Maintain compliance with applicable design and testing standards throughout project lifecycles.
• Develop and support test rigs, simulation models, and prototype control systems.
• Generate safety approval and sign-off documentation.
• Perform calculations in line with applicable standards (e.g. BS EN 13849) and demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant electrical standards (e.g. IEC 60204)

The key requirements of the Electrical Design Engineer will be:

• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical and EPLAN.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panel design.
• Familiarity with relevant safety and compliance standards.
• HND or Degree qualified is preferred
