Job summary

Major Energy Onshore is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our expanding team near Blaydon. The role focuses on bespoke electrical projects, including panel specification, AutoCAD Electrical schematics, BOM generation, and support through manufacturing and FATs.

The candidate should have HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, strong PLC knowledge, and proven ability to produce clear electrical diagrams with AutoCAD Electrical.

Qualifications

• Education: HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Experience designing and manufacturing industrial control panels.
• Good knowledge of PLCs and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Specify and estimate control panels from customer documents and/or site visits and meetings with clients.
• Create electrical schematic diagrams including external and internal layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Generate Bills of Materials and other supporting documentation.
• Assist with manufacturing issues and compliance to relevant standards.
• Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests.
• Generate Operation and Maintenance files for completed projects.

Job description

An Electrical Design Engineer is needed by an expanding Engineering company near Blaydon

The successful candidate will be working on bespoke electrical projects with duties including: -

• Specifying and estimating of control panels from customer supplied documentation and/or site visits and meetings with our clients.


• Generation of electrical schematic diagrams including external and internal layout diagrams utilising AutoCAD Electrical software.


• Generation of Bills of Materials and other supporting documentation.


• Assistance with Manufacturing issues and compliance to relevant standards


• Assistance with Factory Acceptance Tests


• Generation of Operation and Maintenance files for completed projects.

The ideal candidate will be: -

• Educated to HNC level or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related subject.


• Experienced in the design and manufacture of industrial control panels


• Good knowledge of PLCs


• Possess excellent communication skills


• Capable of producing electrical schematic diagrams, preferably using AutoCAD Electrical.


• Highly computer literate with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD experience.


• Commercially aware in order to make informed decisions on the selection of components based on a cost/benefit analysis


• Excellent time management skills


• Hands‑on practical experience and ability with regard to the manufacture of industrial control panels.


• Working knowledge of process‑based industries


• Have the initiative, ability and drive to generate new designs and improve overall efficiencies.
