Job summary

Encirc in Elton is seeking an experienced Electrician Chargehand to support electrical and controls across our busy glass manufacturing site. You will lead electrical technicians and contractors while remaining hands-on with fault finding, maintenance, automation and controls.

The role focuses on safe systems of work, downtime reduction and collaboration with Production and Engineering. A recognised electrical apprenticeship and 18th Edition are required, with Siemens PLC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: recognised electrical apprenticeship/qualification.
• Required: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Industrial electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens preferred), automation, drives and motor control.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Experience leading technicians/apprentices/contractors.
• Strong focus on electrical safety and safe isolation.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day electrical maintenance activities.
• Fault finding, repairs, installation and testing.
• Diagnose faults across PLC, automation, drives, motors and instrumentation.
• Support planned and reactive maintenance, shutdowns and improvements.
• Mentor and support electrical technicians and apprentices.
• Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to minimise downtime.

Electrician Chargehand | £56000 - £59000 | Elton | Working hours: Monday - Thursday 08:00-17:00, Friday 08:00-15:15

We’re looking for an experienced Electrician Chargehand to join our Engineering team at Elton, providing electrical and controls support across our busy glass manufacturing site.

You’ll lead and coordinate electrical technicians and contractors while remaining hands‑on with fault finding, maintenance, automation and controls. The role is key to keeping our plant safe, reliable and running efficiently.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day electrical maintenance activities.
• Carry out electrical fault finding, repairs, installation and testing.
• Diagnose faults across PLC, automation, drives, motors and instrumentation.
• Support planned and reactive maintenance, shutdowns and improvement projects.
• Take a “fix-for-life” approach to recurring faults and reliability issues.
• Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
• Mentor and support electrical technicians and apprentices.
• Work closely with Production and Engineering to minimise downtime.

What you’ll bring

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship/qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Strong industrial electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Experience with PLCs (ideally Siemens), automation, drives and motor control.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Experience leading technicians, apprentices and/or contractors.

• HV SAP experience is highly desirable.
• Experience within a manufacturing or process environment.
