Job summary

RGB Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer in Northampton to join a living design team within an established, employee‑owned building services specialist. You will develop electrical designs across residential and accommodation-led developments, supporting from initial design through to handover.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical building services design.
• Comprehensive technical knowledge across electrical engineering services.
• Experience across multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a 'right first time' approach.
• Understanding of the Building Safety Act and Higher Risk Buildings requirements.
• Commercial awareness and budgeting understanding.
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors.
• Clear and concise communication skills, internal and external.
• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical building services designs through project stages up to BSRIA Stage 6.
• Support estimating with tenders for design and build projects.
• Collaborate with BIM to develop 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Support installation, commissioning and handover activities.
• Ensure designs comply with employer, statutory requirements and standards.
• Ensure safety, CDM, environmental and quality compliance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers.
• Attend design and project meetings and propose design alternatives.
• Monitor design progress and report on progress.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities, continuing professional development.
