Job summary

RGB Recruitment in Northampton seeks a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to develop mechanical and public health designs for residential and accommodation projects, supporting from design through to handover.

You will work with estimating, BIM and project teams, ensuring compliance with health and safety and relevant standards, while liaising with subcontractors and suppliers for plant and equipment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical and public health building services design.
• Comprehensive knowledge across mechanical and public health services.
• Experience across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a 'right first time' approach.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to resolve design challenges.
• Understanding of the Building Safety Act and Higher Risk Buildings requirements.
• Commercial awareness and budgeting understanding.
• Ability to collaborate with developers, architects, engineers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and public health designs across residential and accommodation projects.
• Support estimating with tender documents for design and build projects.
• Work with BIM team to develop 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Support installation, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Ensure designs comply with employer requirements and standards.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for plant and equipment.
• Attend design and project meetings; propose alternative design solutions.
• Monitor design progress and produce progress reports.
