Curtiss-Wright's Christchurch team is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to lead EHS strategies and drive compliance across operations.
You will oversee audits, investigations, and program development, partnering with operations, engineering, and quality to minimize risk and foster continuous improvement. The role also offers opportunities to mentor EHS professionals and shape a culture of accountability.
We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our Christchurch Team!
As an Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will monitor EHS performance through audits, inspections, performance metrics, and corrective action plans to improve compliance and operational effectiveness. Lead investigations of significant incidents, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions that reduce organizational risk.
Develop and execute EHS strategies that align with business objectives, corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Lead environmental, health, and safety compliance programs to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks while protecting employees, facilities, and the environment. Monitor EHS performance through audits, inspections, performance metrics, and corrective action plans to improve compliance and operational effectiveness. (35%)
Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, standards, procedures, and management systems that promote regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, customer, and company requirements, including occupational safety, environmental protection, hazardous materials management, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and waste management. Oversee regulatory reporting, permitting, agency inspections, and compliance documentation while maintaining effective relationships with regulatory authorities. (25%)
Collaborate with operations, engineering, quality, facilities, supply chain, human resources, and business leadership to integrate EHS requirements into operational and strategic initiatives. Lead investigations of significant incidents, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions that reduce organizational risk. Provide technical guidance on regulatory changes, emerging risks, and industry best practices to support informed business decisions. (20%)
Lead, coach, and develop EHS professionals while establishing performance expectations, allocating resources, and supporting employee development. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement through effective communication, training, and leadership. Promote organizational capability by strengthening EHS knowledge, leadership effectiveness, and operational discipline across the business. (20%)
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, environmental protection requirements, hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, industrial safety, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Experience in ISO 14001 and 45001
Minimum NEBOSH NGC (national general certificate) or IOSH Diploma Level 6
Experience implementing and maintaining EHS management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Familiarity with quality management systems, and experience partnering with quality organizations to improve operational performance.
Demonstrated success leading audits, regulatory inspections, compliance initiatives, and organizational change.
Strong leadership, coaching, organizational development, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to influence business leaders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
