Job summary

RHL Recruitment is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor for a busy, safety-critical site in West Coast Scotland. You will shape safety standards and support the site toward COMAH compliance, acting as the day-to-day EHS contact for the leadership team and driving a practical safety culture.

You will lead EHS guidance, support project delivery, maintain SMS/EMS, perform inspections and investigations, and report on performance to drive continual improvement.

Qualifications

• EHS experience in major hazard/COMAH-regulated environments.
• Strong communication skills with site teams, contractors and regulators.
• Ability to write clear safety reports and maintain attention to detail.
• Valid UK driving licence with willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional EHS guidance to site leadership, operations and project teams on safety, environment, risk and process safety.
• Support delivery of engineering and improvement projects with CDM responsibilities where applicable.
• Maintain and continually improve SMS/EMS aligned with ISO 45001/14001 standards.
• Conduct inspections, audits and assurance activities across site operations and contractor work.
• Lead or support incident/near-miss investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Produce actionable performance reporting and share learnings for continual improvement.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness arrangements, exercises and readiness reviews.
• Advise on controls and safety barriers to support management of change.
