We're looking for a hands-on, detail-driven Packaging Technologist to join our NPD team in Carlisle. You’ll work closely with Concept Development and Factory teams to deliver packaging that not only looks great, but works in practice – on time, on budget, and on brand.

The Role

This is a varied, fast-paced role where you’ll take projects from initial brief right through to launch.

That Means

• Working with sleeve suppliers and agreeing board types, specs and samples
• Liaising with engineers to make sure packaging works with machinery
• Partnering with buyers to scale orders and manage timelines
• Advising the team on what’s possible — and what’s best — based on your experience
• Running packaging trials in the factory and evaluating results
• Managing profiles and ensuring all spec data is accurate and audit-ready
• You’ll also be in regular contact with customers like M&S, so attention to detail and clear communication are key.
  
  

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for someone who knows packaging inside out. You (preferably) might have worked in the food industry before – or come from a background with transferable skills e.g. Beauty or Retail. Either way, you’ll bring:

• Experience in packaging development (ideally within food)
• A solid understanding of packaging materials, printing processes, and factory realities
• The ability to solve problems under pressure
• A proactive, collaborative approach – this is a role that connects the dots between NPD, technical, buying and ops
• Strong supplier relationships or contacts in the industry would be a real bonus
