The position is created to support the current Global Insurance Director, based in the UK.

The Global Insurance function's role is to procure and maintain global insurance programs and oversee local insurance programs, with direct responsibility for the UK and NL, to protect the Arcadis group against identified, insurable risks. The Global Insurance Manager is accountable for supporting the setup and maintenance of the Insurance function and programs, the operation of the captive cell insurance company, and reports to the Global Insurance Director as part of the wider Finance team.

The Global Insurance Manager will support the procurement and maintenance of global insurance programs and local policies where required, following insurance policies and procedures. They will assist with designing, establishing, and maintaining compulsory global insurance programs including, but not limited to: professional indemnity, general/third-party liability, cyber, directors & officers liability, crime, and travel, ensuring the best possible terms and conditions. The Global Insurance Director will continuously monitor and analyze changes in the business and insurance markets to ensure sufficient coverage or necessary amendments at optimal terms. The Director is responsible for the correct operation and oversight of the captive cell insurance company.

The Global Insurance function collaborates closely with:

  • The Global legal function and local legal counsels regarding insurance claims handling.
  • The Global Risk Management function to ensure standardized risk management practices and mitigants are embedded in business operations.
  • The finance functions across the group concerning budgets, premium allocations, processing insurance invoices, and monitoring.

There is also close collaboration with colleagues involved in project bidding and execution, as well as in Treasury, Accounting, and Tax.

The accountabilities associated with the function include:

  • Supporting the management of brokers during global insurance program renewals to secure optimal terms.
  • Assisting with the collection of renewal data, including completing proposal forms and updating underwriting presentations.
  • Preparing premium allocations for all global policies.
  • Checking and monitoring invoices, including raising POs.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all policies globally to enable management reporting on spending and other metrics.
  • Managing UK and NL policies, including Motor, CAR, Property, Art, and Personal Accident.
  • Overseeing and monitoring locally placed policies.
  • Creating budgets based on input from brokers and preparing bi-annual summaries for regional CFOs.
  • Responding promptly to insurance queries, from coverage questions to certificate issuance.
  • Creating and maintaining an insurance intranet page with relevant and up-to-date resources.
  • Regularly monitoring claims between the fronting insurer and captive cell, including annual aggregates.
  • Deputizing for the Global Insurance Director when unavailable and performing additional tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in corporate insurance, as an Insurance Manager or broker.
  • Knowledge of the corporate insurance market, its dynamics, and key players.
  • Strong communication skills, maintaining contacts with internal and external parties.
  • Proficient in Excel, especially for premium allocations.
  • A proactive, no-nonsense team player.
  • Flexible mentality with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
