Job description

The Role Due to additional support required, we are seeking an experienced Site Manager to support us with temporary support across the Retrofit division. You will be based in Birmingham with travel across the city. This is a minimum 3-month role, potentially extending up to 6 months or leading to a permanent position.

The Site Manager will work full-time on a temporary basis, leading Retrofit site teams and subcontractors, managing and planning labour, and supporting the delivery of large projects and Retrofit programmes. Responsibilities include external repairs, EWI (external Wall Insulation) cladding, roofing, doors, and windows.

The Project You will be part of one of Fortem's largest Social Housing contracts, Birmingham City Council. This expanding 50m Repairs & Maintenance, Capital Works, and Retrofit contract is the largest social housing contract in Europe, covering over 22,500 properties, including high-rise blocks. This fast-paced, focused contract has been re-awarded three times, reflecting our commitment and success.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Lead, assess, and be responsible for Retrofit and Project works, including EWI, cladding, roofing, windows, and door programmes.
2. Experience in refurbishing high/low-rise properties is highly advantageous.
3. Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety policies, working closely with H&S managers and maintaining records.
4. Maintain Environmental and Waste Management policies.
5. Ensure proper induction of staff, subcontractors, and visitors.
6. Comply with Customer Satisfaction policies.
7. Ensure personnel work within specifications and company policies.
8. Motivate, support, and manage site staff; provide training and coaching.
9. Maintain site presentation standards.
10. Organize site meetings and resource planning.

Personal Qualities

Essential:

• Minimum NVQ4 or HNC qualification.
• SMSTS, Scaffold inspection, CSCS card, First Aid.
• Asbestos awareness (desirable).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels.

Desirable:

• Experience with external refurbishment projects.
• Experience with kitchen and bathroom refurbishments.
• CIOB membership, ASTA knowledge, working on high/low-rise properties, and experience with affordable housing projects.
