The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size, offering services such as Programme and Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial Disciplines. We support the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, managing infrastructure projects valued from hundreds of thousands of pounds to over £200M.

Job Description

Important: Due to the sensitive nature of these projects, applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Please see the Security Clearance Section.

We value candidates with a positive outlook, a desire for development, and a strong foundation in risk management. Our infrastructure team in the southwest region has a strong presence in sectors including Defence, offering opportunities to work across various major projects and programmes.

We seek candidates with proven experience in risk delivery on projects or programmes, supporting integrated risk management processes. Experience within Defence is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate identification, assessment, and prioritisation of threats, opportunities, and issues through workshops and direct support to project teams.
• Maintain visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points to support risk cost profiling and mitigation.
• Use risk data to inform project planning.
• Assist in identifying and recording measurable management responses and assess post-mitigation positions.

• Monitor risk exposure and assess against the remaining risk budget.
• Collaborate with contractors to assess risks they hold and their views on risks impacting them.
• Produce timely risk reports to communicate threat and opportunity status effectively.
• Support quantitative risk assessments (cost and schedule) to determine project contingency levels.

• Competence with tools such as Safran, or familiarity with web-based database tools like ARM, Predict, or Power-BI.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant technical or management field, or equivalent qualifications and experience in risk delivery.
• Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, IRM, PMI).
• Understanding of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
• Knowledge of threat mitigation and opportunity exploitation.
• Understanding of integrated risk management processes across large programmes.
• Awareness of governance and policy guidance, including IR.
• Risk certification (MoR, APM, IRM) is desirable.

Work Environment
