The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size, offering services in Programme and Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial disciplines. We support the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, for infrastructure projects valued from several hundred thousand pounds to over £200 million.

Due to increasing client demands, we aim to expand our team with talented individuals who will support our Defence client portfolio and develop their careers through working on complex and challenging projects.

Job Description

Important: Due to the sensitive nature of these projects, applicants must be UK nationals capable of obtaining and maintaining UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Please see the Security Clearance section below.

We seek individuals with a positive outlook, a desire for development, and a strong foundation in risk management. Our infrastructure team in the southwest region has strong positions across multiple sectors, including Defence. Our staff have opportunities to work across various sectors, gaining broad experience on major projects and programmes.

Applicants should have proven experience in a risk delivery role on projects or programmes, supporting the implementation of integrated risk management processes. Experience within a Defence setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Deliverables

• Facilitate identification, assessment, and prioritization of threats, opportunities, and issues within projects, through workshops and direct support to project teams.
• Maintain visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points to facilitate risk cost profiling and mitigation.
• Use risk data to inform planning.
• Assist in identifying and recording management responses, ensuring they are measurable and specific, and assess post-mitigation positions.

• Monitor overall risk exposure and assess against the remaining risk budget.
• Collaborate with contractors to assess risks they hold and their perspectives on client-held risks impacting them.
• Produce timely risk reports to communicate threat and opportunity status effectively.
• Support quantitative risk assessments (cost and schedule) to inform project contingency levels.

• Competence with tools such as PRA, @risk, Safran, or familiarity with web-based database tools like ARM, Predict, or Power-BI.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant technical or management field, or equivalent qualifications and relevant risk delivery experience.
• Membership in a professional body such as APM, IRM, or PMI.
• Understanding of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
• Experience in threat mitigation and opportunity exploitation.
• Knowledge of integrated risk management processes for large programmes.
• Awareness of governance and policy guidance, including IR, MoR, APM, IRM certifications.
