Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with autism within an EYFS/KS1 mainstream classroom. The child requires a high level of consistent support to help them access the mainstream school environment and engage with their learning. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping the child manage the school day, develop their independence and access learning alongside their peers. The Role

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with autism
  • Supporting the child to access learning within the mainstream classroom
  • Helping the child develop confidence and independence
  • Supporting with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day
  • Adapting activities and learning to suit the child's individual needs
  • Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider support team
  • Helping the child develop positive relationships with their peers
  • Following individual support strategies and contributing to the child's progress
    The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience working with children with autism or additional needs
  • Experience within EYFS or KS1
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Good understanding of behaviour and emotional regulation
  • The ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child
  • Confidence working on a 1:1 basis

  • Full-time Monday-Friday position
    8:30am-3:30pm
  • Long-term role until the end of the academic year
  • 1:1 experience within a mainstream primary setting
  • Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant
