Job summary

Teach Now in Barnet, London, is seeking an experienced Nursery Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 ASD support in a welcoming primary school.

The role offers a permanent, full-time contract starting October 2026, with a daily rate of £93–£105 based on experience and qualifications. You will work closely with a class teacher, SEN staff and parents to support development, communication and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Experience working with nursery-aged or Early Years children.
  • Strong understanding of autism, sensory needs, and communication differences.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a nursery pupil with ASD.
  • Support the child's learning, communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Implement strategies to manage transitions and changes in routine.

Nursery Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism Support) | Barnet, North London | September 2026 Start

Location: Barnet, London

Salary: £93–£105 per day

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: October 2026

Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Higher rates apply to candidates with significant experience and/or relevant training. Pay is set in line with school requirements and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Are you an experienced Nursery Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide 1:1 support for a nursery-aged child with autism within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet.
