Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking an experienced education safeguarding professional to lead the MACPT Education role in Oldham. You will ensure education needs, risks and protective factors are central to child protection decision‑making, working with Social Care, Police, Health and education settings to provide timely educational intelligence.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in an education safeguarding role or senior education role with safeguarding responsibilities.
• Experience working with a social worker and vulnerable children to improve engagement and outcomes.
• Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children and applying them in education settings.
• Ability to build relationships and share information with schools and safeguarding partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist education safeguarding expertise within multi‑agency child protection processes.
• Represent education in strategy discussions, Section 47 enquiries, CP Conferences and Core Groups.
• Build partnerships with schools, colleges and education providers to secure timely information.
• Analyse educational data (attendance, attainment, exclusions) to identify safeguarding concerns.
• Champion improved educational stability and outcomes through QA, training and collaboration.
