Faculty of Philosophy, The Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, University of Oxford, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic administrator to take the next step in their career, leading our Education team and playing a key role in the delivery and development of the Faculty’s academic administration.

The Education Manager oversees the administration and delivery of the Faculty’s undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research programmes, supporting students from application through to the conferral of degrees. The Faculty has over 1,500 undergraduate students studying Philosophy across eight joint programmes, approximately 200 graduate students and more than 150 academic members.

This is a varied and responsible role, combining leadership of a team of four with operational oversight, process improvement and the delivery of high-quality services to students and academic staff. You will work proactively to ensure compliance with University and Divisional policies, while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, consistency and service quality. You will work closely with professional services colleagues and senior academic office holders, including the Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies.

You will have substantial experience of academic administration within higher education and experience of managing and developing staff. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to identify improvements, manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships with students and colleagues at all levels.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role with scope to shape and improve education administration within a large and complex teaching Faculty.

As well as the opportunity to work as part of a supportive professional services team within the faculty, we can offer you a competitive salary (including an Oxford Weighting Allowance), 38 days annual leave, enrolment in a good pension scheme, access to employee benefits and discounts and professional development opportunities.
