Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Limited in London is seeking an Assistant Manager for the education department within a secure environment. You will support the Education Manager, oversee curriculum delivery, and drive quality improvement while leading a teaching team to deliver outstanding learner outcomes toward rehabilitation and employment.

The role requires a Level 5 teaching qualification, Level 3 Maths and English, and proven experience in staff management with a strong grasp of Ofsted frameworks.

Qualifications

• Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent)
• Level 3 qualifications in Maths and English
• IQA qualification, or a willingness to achieve one upon appointment
• Significant teaching experience with a proven track record of staff management and curriculum oversight
• Strong working knowledge of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework

Responsibilities

• Support the Education Manager with day-to-day operations, including inductions, allocations and conduct, deputising when required
• Oversee delivery and continuous improvement across the curriculum to meet awarding body standards and employer expectations
• Lead internal quality assurance processes, observations and learning walks to drive recruitment, retention and achievement targets
• Manage and mentor teaching staff through appraisals, probation reviews and tailored CPD plans
• Contribute to the Self-Assessment Report and Quality Improvement Plan in line with Ofsted framework
• Deliver cover teaching sessions when necessary
