Job summary

ARCHDIOCESE OF SOUTHWARK is seeking a data leader to guide the collection, analysis and reporting across its Catholic schools and academies, providing timely, accurate information to support school improvement and statutory obligations.

The postholder will manage the department's data function, uphold high data quality and compliance, and build confidence among colleagues and school leaders in the information they rely on. This role requires travel across the Archdiocese.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a numerate, data or information-related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Desirable: professional qualification in data analysis.
• Desirable: certification in data tools such as Power BI or SQL.
• Substantial experience collecting, cleansing, analysing and interpreting large datasets.
• Experience producing clear reports, dashboards and visualisations for diverse audiences.
• Experience of line managing, supervising or coordinating others.
• Experience in education, charitable or not-for-profit settings.
• Knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 and data protection best practices.

Responsibilities

• Collect, cleanse, analyse and interpret data from a range of sources to identify trends, patterns and areas for attention.
• Produce clear reports, dashboards and visualisations that translate complex data into meaningful insight for senior leadership, trustees and school leaders.
• Support school improvement and strategic planning with evidence-based analysis.
• Maintain accurate, well-organised datasets and ensure data security and appropriate use.
• Oversee statutory data returns, ensuring accuracy and deadline compliance.
• Review and improve data collection and reporting processes, introducing automation where appropriate.
• Line manage, support and develop data staff and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with Education Department and wider Archdiocese to meet information needs and build relationships with schools and external partners.
• Keep up to date with developments in data practice and data protection law.
• Be willing to travel across the Archdiocese as required.
