Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its ETI division to own distributed database systems that power its edge network. You will work across Go, Rust, and other languages to deliver scalable, reliable storage and data services.

The role emphasizes building in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on performance, durability, and correctness, contributing to a globally distributed data platform used by leading customers.

Qualifications

• Source-code level experience with distributed databases or storage systems.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, C++, or similar systems languages.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: consensus, replication, MVCC, isolation levels.

Responsibilities

• Own the distributed database systems across Cloudflare's edge network.
• Add features and extensions to support R2, Durable Objects, and Workers KV.
• Tune performance and resource utilization for staged rollouts and production.
• Optimize data placement and replication across edge topology and assist with schema design.
• Build observability and tooling for database support across consumers.
• Interact with Go, Rust, Saltstack, and Terraform in daily work.
