Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Workers Runtime - Edge team. You will guide a group of senior systems engineers, owning a production runtime service across Cloudflare’s fleet and shaping the platform’s architecture for the future.

You bring 4+ years with C++/Rust, a track record leading technical teams, and a deep understanding of low-latency distributed systems, Linux, and networked architectures.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience with C++ or Rust.
• Experience leading teams of systems engineers.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and OO/FP design.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems programming, processes, and networking.
• Ability to evaluate architectural proposals and balance tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of senior systems engineers working in C++ and Rust on a high-performance, security-sensitive service.
• Drive major infrastructure initiatives, migrate legacy systems, redesign core abstractions, and define next-generation runtime architecture.
• Own reliability and release safety for a service handling tens of millions of requests per second.
• Prioritize feature work vs. foundational improvements like security and developer velocity.
• Collaborate with adjacent Developer Platform teams to align runtime with the broader product roadmap.
• Grow and develop the team through hiring, mentorship, and clear expectations.
