Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall. We are currently delivering a redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth and are seeking an experienced H&S Advisor.

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Contract: Permanent Full-Time, with options for remote work or a local Kier office.

Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks are required – BPSS level security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process.

Responsibilities of a Health and Safety Advisor

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll work within the Devonport Dockyard team, supporting the promotion, delivery, and auditing of HS&E policies and programmes to ensure legal compliance.

Your daily tasks will include:

1. Supporting H&S Managers in promoting and implementing policies and procedures aligned with KBJV standards.
2. Assisting in developing and executing Project H&S objectives, campaigns, and initiatives.
3. Producing monthly and annual H&S performance reports.
4. Conducting regular health and safety inspections and audits.
5. Ensuring all accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported, investigated, and resolved within prescribed timescales.

What We Are Looking For

This role is ideal for candidates with:

• Relevant H&S NVQ, IOSH, NEBOSH (preferably Construction), or equivalent qualifications.
• Membership of a professional institution (e.g., Tech IOSH or higher).
• Accident investigation qualifications (e.g., Kelvin TOPSET, ROSPA, or NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation).
• Experience with auditing to ISO45001 standards.
