Job description

Job Title: HGV Mechanic

Location: Halifax

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (38.75 hours per week)

Salary: £19.03 per hour

Overtime: Available and paid at £28.54 per hour

Benefits: Pension: 6% employer, 5% employee; 28 days holiday (including statutory); death in service benefit of 3x annual salary.

Overall Purpose of the HGV Mechanic

Perform routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards), and repairs on various types of Distribution Tractors, Ro-Ro Tractors, port equipment, and ground support equipment. Conduct thorough inspections of accident-damaged machines and produce accurate reports to facilitate repairs. Work is based in a modern, state-of-the-art workshop.

Responsibilities of the HGV Mechanic
  • Accurately diagnose faults and undertake repairs on a range of makes and models.
  • Perform vehicle servicing, repairs, and related tasks.
  • Complete all documentation accurately, promptly, and to a high standard.
HGV Mechanic Experience Requirements
  • Time-served on HGVs or hold NVQ / City and Guilds or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in fault diagnosis and repairs on trucks, trailers, and specialist vehicles.
