Job description

Job Title: HGV Mechanic

Location: Halifax

Hours: M-F 7.30am-4.00pm (38.75hrs)

Salary: £19.03 per hour

Overtime: Available and paid at £28.54 per hour

Benefits: Pension: 6% employer, 5% employee, 28 days holiday (including statutory), death in service 3x annual salary.

Overall Purpose of the HGV Mechanic

Perform routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards), and repairs on Distribution Tractors, Ro-Ro Tractors, port equipment, and ground support equipment. Conduct thorough inspections of accident-damaged machines and produce accurate reports for repairs. Work is based in a modern, state-of-the-art workshop.

Responsibilities of the HGV Mechanic

1. Diagnose faults accurately and efficiently, and undertake repairs on various makes and models.
2. Perform vehicle servicing, repairs, and related tasks.
3. Complete all vehicle servicing and repair documentation accurately, promptly, and to a high standard.

HGV Mechanic Experience and Qualifications

1. Be time-served on HGVs or hold NVQ / City and Guilds or equivalent qualification.
2. Experience in fault diagnosis and repairs on trucks, trailers, and specialist vehicles.
