Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Derby is seeking an EC&I System V&V Engineer to join the Verification & Validation team responsible for delivering verification of the next-generation Rolls-Royce nuclear reactor control system for the Royal Navy. You will generate V&V processes and tools, own verification of one or more EC&I products, review requirements, and develop emulators, test procedures and scripts.

This is a full-time, days pattern with 5 days onsite; security clearance is required and Rolls-Royce

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Software Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Extensive Verification & Validation experience, including Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) testing.
• Strong technical understanding of high‑integrity electrical and electronic systems.
• Good knowledge of the product design lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, verification and validation, safety and final acceptance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience analysing and interpreting test data.
• Experience with Python, VBA or MATLAB/Simulink would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver critical V&V processes, tools and test artefacts to verify the system.
• Take ownership of the verification of one or more EC&I products.
• Reviewing requirements and allocating appropriate verification methods.
• Developing algorithm emulators, test procedures and test scripts.
• Designing, specifying, deploying, operating and maintaining bespoke test rigs and sensor simulators.
• Conducting testing of EC&I equipment and compiling verification evidence and reports.
• Working closely with commissioning teams to support the deployment of equipment onto boats.
