Job summary

James Knott Primary School is seeking an inspiring Early Years Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role is a one-year fixed term contract starting September 2026, 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days.

You will plan and engage in play and learning activities, contribute to assessments, and promote inclusion. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding procedures; interviews will be held on Wednesday 15th July.

Qualifications

  • Experience in early years settings or similar environments.
  • Ability to support children's physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and review play-based learning activities.
  • Commitment to inclusion and providing equal access to learning.

Salary: Band 4 £26,403 – £28,142 pro rata (actual £20,010 – £21,328)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 additional days
Contract: One year fixed term contract, starting September 2026

James Knott Primary School is looking for an inspiring, enthusiastic and resourceful Early Years Support Assistant to join the dedicated and hardworking team.

The successful candidate will be creative and engaging when working alongside children, encouraging their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning in a stimulating and nurturing environment. They will be adaptable, flexible and an effective communicator, with the skills and commitment to support children in achieving the Early Learning Goals.

Main Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure children have access to appropriate activities that support their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.
  • Plan and engage in play, care and learning activities
  • Ensure high standards are maintained at all times and contribute to the development and regular review of policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the assessment and review of children’s progress and development.
  • Promote inclusion by recognising and supporting individual differences, ensuring all children have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
